  93.        the Messaging Server 3.5 is shipped unconfigured. Since it
  94.        replaces /usr/lib/sendmail as the default mail transport
  95.        agent, it will conflict with fingerd and sendmail. After
  96.        installation of the product, you should proceed with the
  97.        Messaging Server QuickStart Installation.

  141.        _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n  When you do accept to replace the default mail
  142.        transport agent sendmail by the Netscape Messaging Server,
  143.        it will make several modifications for you that may break
  144.        other parts of your system. Here's a list of the changes:

  146.           +o Since Netscape Messaging Server doesn't invoke
  147.             /usr/bin/mail as the root user, it needs to be able to
  148.             write to the default mail spool directory ////vvvvaaaarrrr////mmmmaaaaiiiillll////.
  149.             The install program will want to have the setgid bit
  150.             set on that directory.
  151.  
  152.           +o The Messaging Server wants to replace the finger daemon
  153.             with its own, and it will ask you to let it comment out
  154.             the "finger" line in /etc/inetd.conf.
  155.  
  156.           +o Two directories will be created for the Messaging
  157.             Server's files, /var/spool/mailbox and
  158.             /var/spool/postoffice, by default. You can choose where
  159.             they will actually be located.
  160.  
  161.           +o A configuration file will be created and used by the
  162.             Administration Server 3.5; you should not modify that
  163.             file by hand. It is at /etc/netscape.mail.conf.
  164.  
  165.           +o The Messaging Server will kill the sendmail daemon so
  166.             that it can take over the SMTP port. It will also
  167.             rename your /usr/lib/sendmail file to
  168.             /usr/lib/sendmail.bak and create a symlink to
  169.             NSHOME/bin/mail/server/bin/sendmail.
  170.        Finally, when you decide to run the Netscape Messaging
  171.        Server, you will see two programs running in the process
  172.        list.
